Dr Anat Ben-David's Workshops

Performative-led workshops exploring a personal journey of the “Thinking Body” encountering space and connectivity through the senses, allowing notations to lead performance, musicality and visualisation.

This practice is based on methodologies developed by Dr Anat Ben-David’s interdisciplinary practice as researched in her PhD Oscillation and Disturbance in the OperaArt (Kingston University 2015) The workshops vary in theme and context, catered for art students, as well as the public- each workshop’s outcome directed in-collaboration with the workshops-participants.

Suitable at any level and aimed at anyone wishing to sketch both physically and mentally in space and time. These methods contribute to grounding and the enhancement of concentration and focus.

As a timid artist navigating within a non-native speaking environment, expressing my inner emotions and bridging cultural, religious, and geographical barriers presents a significant challenge. However, the performing arts introduced by ANAT offer a transformative avenue for individuals to break through these barriers. Through utilizing body language as a means of conveying internal emotions, participants are empowered to share and interact with others in profound ways. This artistic platform encourages individuals to immerse themselves in a holistic experience, drawing inspiration from their natural surroundings and architectural context to enhance relaxation and meditation. Reminiscent of practices like Tai Chi and Yoga from the East, this approach not only fosters introspection but also invites communal engagement, blurring the lines between self-reflection and collective participation.

Thank you so much for your workshop, I really enjoyed it. Part 1 of the workshop made me want to reflect and write, a feeling which I hadn't had in a while due to always running around/anxieties with art making in the institutional setting/dealing with deadlines, exc. I'm really grateful to have experienced that in the workshop. It was so so great to meet you too, and I hope to stay in contact.
